Cynicism WIN!
As of Writing this I have finished watching the gamescom opening night stream, new announcememnts, new games, Geoff Keighly (you actually write his name that way, I was shocked, also someone pleas get him out off europe, I dont like that he was within 100km of me :( ), and I dont need to tell you that most of it was not exciting at all. Maybe because actually nice announcememnts were couched between Gacha Gambling and Nostalgia AI slop. The whole even felt like something out off a time capsule, pre-covid. I remember Gamescom from when I went 2016 (2017?) and it was not like this at all. Now on-floor Gamescom is a LineCon, its always booked out so there are huge lines at any stalls. Combine that with the fact that we are the colonaial periphery and usually would get little new announcements, since those were already made at the earlier E3. So youd get smaller titles and the floor would focus on the AAA game demons announced earlier the year. I dont know how the floor is these days, I have no intent on going to gamescom any time soon, conventions are too muc of a hastle and I rather would save the cash for food. The opening show felt right out of E3, which makes sense, since thats dead I guess gamescom is the next best thing for that sort of thing. At least the live band was good, really nice trio performing a song from the mewgenics soundtrack.

As of Writing this Dolly Parton has died, I knew of her, not much about her. From what you see online youd think they killed Jesus. I guess she was one of the last golden age US celebrity figure that wasnt a huge piece of dogshit. There are probably others but I have been expunging stuff like this from my mind.

As of Writing this, the Supreme Court of the US has decided that that one ExecOrder regarding mail in ballots is valid, since "it hasnt donw any harm yet". What that means is that the federal government of the US in cooperation with CBP will create lists of voters who are eligeble for mail-in ballots. With how marginal votes in the US have been already I see this as the death nail in its democracy. Unlike that other thing they were trying to pass where youd require your birth certificate to vote, this one really doesnt have a "the chuds shot themselves in the foot" spin to it. Its bad bad.

As of Writing this, a huge cranefly has made its way into my bedroom. A Stinkbug joined it which is nice, I hope they can carry me away.

As of Writing this, Ive had a really shitty week already, so my mood is so low I am feeling like I am walking through a dense fog. I can only take so many gut punches and headshots. Political events in combnation with already a kind of videogame malaise really makes me feel like theres not a single good game out there anymore, its all only distraction. But we arent able to do anything anyway while everything turns so shit. Insert Disco Elysium screenshot: "Hands shake from anger at how shit it all is". Anyway, I guess this is what depression is? Ive been coping pretty well with it for a long time but just this year alone has been so fucked that its hard to do a lot of things anymore. Enjoy a lot of things anymore.

I have been reading the Arsene Lupin novels and enjoying them. Its amazing how good they are, for what ive read of them, Lupin hasnt been in them a lot yet, which is fun! His legacy precedes him even in the metanarrative! And its so cool how the Lupin III anime is just a really faithful adaption of the character. Its cool, its goofy, its mysterious. And I love it. gotta hand it to the writers from 130 years ago, they sure knew how to write a good novel I havent seen the Lupin III x Conan crossover movie but if they didnt adapt Hollow Needle 1:1 idk what they are doing, its perfect for those characters.
